Lorne Chambers is a natural storyteller. Through his work in fiction, essays, and poetry, he has the innate ability to craft compelling narratives that are equal parts moving and humorous.
For over two decades, Lorne has also donned the hat of a seasoned newspaperman, harnessing the power of words to create stories that both showcase and shape his community. With a keen eye for detail and an acute understanding of the human experience, his insightful coverage of local stories has woven him into the very fabric of the region he covers.
In 2001, Lorne returned to his alma mater, the College of Charleston, to receive his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing . While there, he had the opportunity to study the craft under such respected literary luminaries as T Kira Madden (Long Live the Tribe of Fatherless Girls, Whidbey), Bret Lott (Jewel, Hunt Club), Malinda McCollum (The Surprising Place), Gary Jackson (Missing You, Metropolis, origin story), Anthony Varallo (What Did You Do Today?, The Lines), and Emily Rosko (Prop Rockery, Raw Goods Inventory).
But Lorne’s academic journey actually began years earlier on this very same historic campus where he undertook a dual focus in Sociology and Poetry during his undergraduate years. This unique academic background provided him with the tools to explore the intricacies of human connections and emotions, which continue to infuse depth into his writing.
